A Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is a collection of files stored on a hard drive, ready for display in digital theatres.
As filmmaking evolves, DCP’s are rapidly replacing 35mm printing. Major theatres around the world are currently completing this transition with smaller venues soon to follow. The effects of this digital revolution are akin to the recent SDTV to HDTV transition – the quality is indisputable and the change is inevitable.
With this new format, smaller independent movies can now achieve higher quality distribution at affordable rates.
